This position may also be involved in regional or multi-state partnerships or programs.

The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a wide variety of individuals and groups. The incumbent will be involved in multi-state activities and/or national programs. The position will support the operation of CIRAS through grants and /or fee-for-service contracts.  This position also serves as a vital link to ISU (e.g. College of Engineering), research facilities (e.g. Ames Lab), Community Colleges and technical centers (e.g. Iowa Energy Center) about the current needs of Iowa industry, enabling these important institutions to more effectively serve the state of Iowa.

The successful candidate is expected to develop an internationally recognized research program and to work collaboratively within the existing research strengths of the department, and with affiliated centers including the Center for Crops Utilization Research, the Biocentury Research Farm, and the Nutrition and Wellness Research Center; mentor graduate students; teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of expertise and food science; and function as an active member of the faculty and profession. This position will be 65% research, 30% teaching and 5% service.

FSHN is a comprehensive academic program with 33 tenure-track faculty and 540 undergraduate majors in food science, culinary science, nutritional sciences and dietetics. Our graduate programs include MS and PhD options in Food Technology and Nutritional Sciences (interdisciplinary). ISU is strongly invested in interdisciplinary graduate programs and FSHN faculty mentor students in Toxicology, Immunobiology, Genetics, and Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology.       <description>The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering seeks to hire an Assistant Professor of Manufacturing Technology and Engineering. This is a B-base, 9-month, tenure-track position with potential for summer funding. The position is described as 50% Teaching and 50% Research.

Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses for technology and engineering students in areas such as advanced manufacturing processes, lean manufacturing, quality management and facilities planning and/or curriculum development in technology and engineering. Research responsibilities should align with one of the departmental focus areas. In addition, research activities in the area of scholarship of teaching and learning will be valuable to the candidate. Expectations include developing a nationally recognized research program.  

The successful candidate is expected to establish a prosperous publication record in teaching and/or research scholarship, secure competitive grants, recruit and advise graduate students, fulfill committee assignments supporting the mission of the department, college, and university, and provide leadership to professional societies.

This senior level development professional provides overall direction to Iowa State University Foundation&apos;s Gift Planning program, which includes conceptualizing and developing a comprehensive program to aggressively market bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, and other planned giving vehicles.  The incumbent will identify and develop cultivation and solicitation strategies through personal contacts and in collaboration with other development officers across the development team.  

Our advancement team promotes donor-centered philanthropy as a vital avenue that enables Iowa State University to achieve excellence in fundraising and its academic mission.  The Executive Director is responsible for the management of a portfolio of major donor prospects through personal contacts and relationship-building efforts.  The incumbent will lead the expansion of our Gift Planning program and will supervise a Gift Planning Officer and support staff. Position requires a bachelor&apos;s degree and minimum of seven years of professional fundraising experience, or appropriate related experience, with demonstrated success in roles requiring solid persuasive communications skills. The Program Manager will be responsible for making decisions in a wide array of teacher education areas including teacher licensure, student admissions, criminal background checks of teacher education candidates, student recruiting, budget for Teacher Education Services, staff and student supervision, and preparation of state and national reports. This position will represent ISU teacher education at internal and external functions including recruitment events and on various college and university committees. This position will teach three courses for the School of Education that integrate a clinical experience and a service-learning experience. All three courses are required for teacher licensing for students who are pursuing an endorsement in English, History-Social Sciences, Mathematics, and World Languages and Cultures.

This position will also be responsible for technology as it relates to program objectives. This includes management of initiatives including consulting with users to develop operational plans, providing project specifications to vendor(s), participating in the negotiation process with vendors, implementing new processes, educating faculty, staff and students, and conducting evaluations to inform future decisions. 

In addition, the Program Manager will be managing the automated database which provides a systematized approach to track all state mandated program requirements including admission requirements for formal entrance into the program, fulfillment of pre-student teaching clinical experiences observation hours, minimum GPA requirements, minimum grade requirements in education and content courses; and minimally acceptable performances across all standards.

The successful candidate will have the ability to manage staff, work cooperatively with internal and external constituencies, process data, and problem solve.  Additionally, the candidate will have knowledge of accreditation, Iowa&apos;s schools and school districts, and an understanding of national exams. 3) Materials preparation, phase characterization using metallographic and x-ray techniques, and magnetic characterization.  Positions require a thorough understanding of magnetic measurements, materials preparation using solidification processing, SEM and x-ray diffraction.
4) Combinatorial material science including thin film deposition, bulk sample preparation (e.g. arc melting). Specific areas of interest rare earth metals and alloys. 
5) Rapid assessment of thermodynamic, magnetic, and structural properties of thin film and bulk combinatorial libraries. Specific techniques include: calorimetry, SQUID, VSM, synchrotron X-ray scattering, SEM, and TEM.
6) Pyrometallurgical processing with specific focus on recovery of rare earth (RE) metals from scrap sources. Additional areas of interest include expertise in powder processing of Mg-RE alloys.
7) Theory and code development in quantum chemistry as well as quantum mechanical methods in determining energetics and other properties.  Experience with solvent methods and/or binding affinities is preferred.

The Department has areas of strength in biological statistics and bioinformatics, engineering statistics, survey statistics, computational statistics, statistical graphics, Bayesian statistics, theoretical statistics, statistics education, and spatial and environmental statistics.  The Statistical Laboratory includes the Center for Survey Statistics and Methodology, as well as support for human subjects and establishment data collection through Survey and Behavioral Research Services. The department&apos;s B.S. program is one of the largest undergraduate programs in the country with over 100 current students.  About 140 students are enrolled in the graduate program.       <description>The Nutrition &amp; Wellness Research Center (NWRC) at Iowa State University has  ongoing temporary openings for nurses who will be responsible for collecting sequential blood samples from human subjects participating in research studies at the NWRC.  

Responsibilities include inserting indwelling catheter, extracting blood samples, and flushing the catheters with saline solution. Proper identification and labeling of samples is critical.  The nurse will provide appropriate care to the subject during the procedure, and must be prepared to take appropriate action should the subject react negatively to the blood draw.  

The nurse must follow NWRC policies and procedures, use standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required, and inform NWRC staff if supplies are running low.  Some supervision of undergraduate students may be required. Bachelor&apos;s degree and one year of experience

      <description>The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University invites applications for a 3/4 time, adjunct instructor, clinical pathology training position in the Department of Veterinary Pathology.  This position is anticipated to result in eligibility for ACVP board certification; typical time for completion of PhD and ACVP board eligibility is 4-5 years.

This program emphasizes an integrated approach to develop diagnostic, experimental design and critical thinking skills. Specific duties would include 1) teaching clinical pathology to DVM students in VPTH 457; 2) rotations in diagnostic clinical pathology and parasitology serving the Lloyd VMC and area practitioners; 3) assist in course development as needed; and 4) pursue graduate degree in veterinary pathology.

The goals of the program are to prepare for ACVP board certification, teaching, and the ability to be an independent investigator. Research areas include, but are not limited to, cellular and molecular pathology; host defense mechanisms in infectious diseases; leukocyte biology and trafficking; cellular immunology; molecular virology; and protozoal pathogenesis and host response. A strong collaborative environment is present on the campus of Iowa State University with the USDA ARS National Animal Disease Center, APHIS National Veterinary Services Laboratories, and the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa.

The department includes four ACVP board certified faculty members in clinical pathology, seven board certified faculty members in anatomic pathology, and four faculty members in parasitology. The department houses students pursuing PhD degrees in pathology and interdepartmental programs in biological sciences; bringing together a variety of national and international experiences and expertise.
